Hormone Replacement

Hormone replacement therapy is constantly in the news today. Men and women are looking for answers as it relates to their hormone health.

Unfortunately, most of us are completely confused and mis-informed on the subject of hormone replacement therapy thanks to the media and other so-called “experts”.

Since 1996, Oakdell Pharmacy has made it not only a goal but a significant part of who we are to help men and women find answers to their hormone imbalances with treatment options. To help achieve this goal, we created the Oakdell Pharmacy Wellness Center at our Medical Center Location.

The purpose of the Wellness Center is to help patients and practioners get educated about all treatment options as it relates to hormone replacement therapy. How can you make good decisions about your health if you don’t know all the options? At the Wellness Center you will find private one-on-one consultation with our Clinical Pharmacist who is a Certified Bio-Identical Specialist with resources to help you achieve the best possible outcome. Call to speak with our Wellness Coordinator to see how we can make a difference in your life.

Here are some examples of what you will find at the Wellness Center:

1. Education

Educational materials and books that cover a variety of health topics including natural compounded hormones, nutritional supplements, diet and nutrition are available for purchase.

Periodically, we have in-house seminars. Contact our Wellness Coordinator for more information!

2. Testing Hormones (Saliva and/or Blood)

We have various types of Saliva Testing with no need of a prescription. Once you purchase the saliva kit, take with you to perform the tests in the privacy of your home. A mailing bag/stickers are provided with the kit. Call us today to find out more about which hormones can be tested.

You can have bloodwork done from your physician's office or at a lab. We require the following tests to be performed are: Estradiol, Progesterone, Testosterone (Total and Free), DHEA-Sulfate, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG), TSH, Free T3, Free T4, Cortisol - AM Fasting, Insulin, 25- Hydroxy Vitamin D and Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO)

3. Consultation

After test results are received, a one-hour extended Personal Consultation with a Clinical Pharmacist who is a Certified Bio-Identical Specialist will thoroughly explain your lab results and review your medical history. Treatment options will be discussed.

4. Custom Compounding

We will collaborate with your physician for a prescription to address your specific needs and once approved, the prescription is then Custom Compounded in our lab using natural hormones; that is, hormones that are identical in chemical structure to your own. (cost varies, based on your needs) Sometimes these are referred to as Bio-Identical Hormones.

5. Vitamin Supplements may be recommended.

6. Dietary recommendations may also be recommended.

7. Follow-up Care
